New York, NY \u2013 March 3, 2025 \u2014 The Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) is pleased to announce the election of Harin de Silva to its Board of Directors. HEAF\u2019s Board provides strategic oversight to the nonprofit organization, a high-impact college access program that provides academic enrichment, personal development, college prep, and career exposure from middle school through high school and college.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Harlem Educational Activities Fund is an incredible organization that is making an indelible mark on students, the communities where they live, the academic institutions they attend and the organizations where they ultimately build careers,\u201d said Harin de Silva, newly-elected Director, Harlem Educational Activities Fund, and Managing Director & Portfolio Manager, PIMCO. \u201cI am pleased to join the board and partner with so many influential leaders and HEAF\u2019s strong team to help continue to open doors for students from underserved communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr. de Silva is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at PIMCO\u2019s New York office. He chairs PIMCO\u2019s private strategies leadership team, with oversight of that portfolio management team. In addition, Mr. de Silva co-leads the specialty finance team globally, and is a lead portfolio manager for PIMCO’s multi-sector private credit, asset-based lending, and opportunistic strategies.<\/p>\n
Prior to joining PIMCO in 2009, Mr. de Silva was managing director at Merrill Lynch, where he focused on structured credit. Mr. de Silva has also held structured finance roles at Credit Suisse First Boston and Prudential Securities. He began his career in the actuarial department at Royal Sun Alliance.<\/p>\n
Mr. de Silva holds an MBA in analytical finance from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Davidson College.<\/p>\n
