Welcome Eric Pryor, Interim Chief Executive Officer<\/b><\/h3>\n
HEAF is pleased to welcome <\/span>Eric Pryor<\/b> as Interim Chief Executive Officer.<\/span><\/p>\nEric succeeds Michael Johnson, who stepped down after three years of service. The board is grateful for Michael\u2019s leadership and commitment to HEAF\u2019s mission. Eric\u2019s appointment reflects the board\u2019s focus on continuity, strong stewardship, and thoughtful leadership during this transition.<\/span><\/p>\nEric brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience across nonprofit arts and education institutions, with deep and longstanding ties to Harlem and New York City. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he led the institution through a period of strategic growth, financial oversight, and institutional advancement.<\/span><\/p>\nReflecting on his return to Harlem, Eric shared:<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s a joy to be back in Harlem and to join a community so deeply committed to young people. I\u2019m excited to work with HEAF as we build toward a bright and ambitious future.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n
From 2015 to 2022, Eric was President of the Harlem School of the Arts, a multidisciplinary organization serving young people and families through high\u2011quality after\u2011school programs in dance, theater, music, and visual arts. His leadership in Harlem was grounded in strong community partnerships, equity\u2011centered programming, and a deep commitment to youth development.<\/span><\/p>\nEarlier in his career, Eric held senior leadership roles including Executive Director of The Center for Arts Education in New York City, Executive Director of the New Jersey State Museum, President of the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, and Executive Director of the Center for Arts and Culture in Brooklyn. Across these roles, he has overseen multimillion\u2011dollar budgets, strengthened governance, led fundraising and capital campaigns, and expanded institutional visibility and community engagement.<\/span><\/p>\nEric\u2019s Focus as Interim CEO<\/b><\/h3>\n
As Interim CEO, Eric will work closely with HEAF\u2019s board and staff to ensure program continuity, strong financial stewardship, and thoughtful preparation for the organization\u2019s next permanent leader.
