Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
“Just Desserts”

Yesterday evening we celebrated the HEAF Volunteers who have supported out programs and our students this year, and we honored a few dedicated individuals and organizations who have made a significant impact in the lives of our students. Volunteers shared inspiring testimonies and sentiments about how working with our students fills them with “hope”.  A few of our award recipients talked about the important of giving back to the community and named that witnessing our students and HEAF programs be successful is truly an exhilarating experience where they leave inspired and knowing they have made a difference.

Award Recipients:

Distinguished Leadership Award: This award recognizes a volunteer who has exhibited a strong commitment to HEAF and it’s mission and who has worked with HEAF for a minimum of two years.
Recipient: Ron Claiborne

Spirit of HEAF Award:This award recognizes a volunteer who has demonstrated a commitment to HEAF and is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of our HEAF students.
Recipient: Phoebe Haines

Rising Star Award: This award recognizes volunteers who have volunteered a minimum of 6 months while contributing outstanding service while working directly with HEAF students
Recipients: Tehya Hester, Jason Kang, and Darrell Johnson

Corporate Impact Award: This award recognizes an organization who has demonstrated both exceptional leadership in coordinating and successfully completing fundraising efforts for HEAF, and demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility through corporate volunteer involvement in HEAF programs
Recipient: HBO

SOUL Award: This award recognizes someone who often works behind the scenes to help further the mission of HEAF
Recipient: Arielle Guerrera
